Small obl. 8vo (97 x 157 mm.), contemporary boards covered with orange paper, title in gold within thin gold border on upper board; ownership ms. entry dated 1844. Engraved title and 25 engraved plates by Lazzari after drawings by Giuseppe Bertoja (1804-1873), all of them in contemporary coloring.
First edition of this nice copy of this very rare collection of plates, the perfect pocket book souvenir for the Grand Tour traveller, apparently no other copy passed at auction after the present one, according RBH. This album was published after 1827, when the funeral monument to Antonio Canova (depicted here in the plate n. 24) was erected in the left aisle of the Basilica dei Frari in Venice, on the initiative of Count Leopoldo Cicognara and based on the model that Canova himself had prepared for a monument to Titian. There is a jump of numbering ( pl. n. 2 omitted) but the total of is of 26plate incl. the engraved title. Cicogna, n. 4558, Sbn IT\ICCU\VEA\1007473 (altogether 26 plates, like our copy).
